WELCOME TO OJAI
Nestled in the heart of historic downtown Ojai, Ojai Rôtie is a chef/farmer-driven patio restaurant serving French-Lebanese style rotisserie chicken, freshly-baked sourdough, inventive sides, and a carefully curated wine and beer list celebrating Ojai Valley viticulture and the Ojai Appellation.
Dine under the canopy of a landmark tipuana tree surrounded by lemon and olive trees — or grab it to go. The vibe is relaxed, energetic, and unfussy: the kind of perfect picnic that locals and visitors alike have come to think of as an Ojai state of mind.
Our Food
Our cuisine is a Lebanese-French picnic — casual yet elegant. Think of a Lebanese guy in Paris with a small shop: rotisserie chicken, fresh-made sides, salads, sourdough boule, sweets, wine, and lemony things you could pick up on your Vespa and take to the countryside. Everything is handmade, authentic, and organic when available. We use French and Middle Eastern techniques and spices with a nod to local Latino, Chumash, and California influences — and we’re always inspired by the Ojai Farmer’s Market and the extraordinary local agricultural scene.
Our Wine
Our wine program focuses on small wineries in Ojai and Santa Barbara that practice sustainable viticulture. We feature Rhône varietals like Syrah, Grenache, and Viognier, which thrive in our local wine regions and pair beautifully with Ojai Rôtie's cuisine.
Our name is reminiscent of Côte-Rôtie, the celebrated wine region in France's Rhône Valley, and that connection runs deep. Alongside our local selections, you'll find wines from Côte-Rôtie, the Rhône Valley, and beyond.
Our beers, kombucha, and cider highlight local breweries and fermenters from right here in the neighborhood.
Our Bread
Ojai Rôtie bread is made without commercial yeast, just our own sourdough culture, filtered water, and sea salt. The dough is hand-stretched over three hours, shaped twice by hand, and cold-risen for a minimum of 20 hours before baking in a steam-injected deck oven that creates our signature thick, chewy-crunchy crust.
Our proprietary flour blend from Giusto's Vita Grain combines organic wheat, spelt, and rye, 30% whole grain. Natural fermentation gives the bread its superb flavor and longer shelf life.
It's the best bread we know how to make. (Although we'll keep trying to improve.)
